Accounting Intern - Richmond International Raceway (Richmond, VA)

Position Purpose
The Accounting Intern will provide accounting support in many aspects of the business and gain valuable experience and knowledge of the inner workings of the sports and event management industries, while working in a high energy and fast-paced environment at Richmond International Raceway.

Job Responsibilities

  • Month end accounting work, including journal entries, reports and reconciliations
  • Manage accounting function of merchandise sales, including event balancing and inventory.
  • Participate in event accounting work, including cash room and event audits
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns
  • Respond to inquiries related to A/P (outstanding invoices) and A/R (past due notifications)
  • Perform the initial work to process A/P invoices for certain departments (coding, descriptions, route for approval, setting up new vendors)
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Staff Accountant or Director of Accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or within Bachelor’s degree program with an emphasis in accounting or finance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or an accounting software is preferred
  • Attention to detail, accurate, timely
  • Comfort to work in a fast paced and high energy environment
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize work load
  • Able to work independently

Public Relations Intern - Talladega Superspeedway (Talladega, AL)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Public Relations Intern will learn the intricacies of the Talladega Superspeedway Public Relations Department while strengthening his or her own professional attributes. To participate in this internship, students must be able to receive credit from their college or university, or have graduated within the last 12 months.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Write and edit official track press releases/announcements
• Research and develop story ideas for releases, souvenir event program
• Assist in maintaining strong ties to track community through charitable donations and events
• Analyze race statistics and track records for implementation into the Talladega Superspeedway media guide
• Strategize with PR team on ways to better engage with local and national media
• Plan and execute driver/personality appearances with PR/CM team in local markets
• File and build credential requests from media outlets, team PR representatives and track guests
• Prepare and maintain media center, credential office and press box for event weekend
• Other tasks as assigned by Public Relations leadership team

QUALIFICATIONS
• Create a mock AP style press release writing sample
• Must be able to receive academic credit and provide paperwork

Overview: The primary goal of this opportunity is to provide the intern with a positive work experience while fulfilling the responsibilities of working with the Marketing/ Community Relations departments and Watkins Glen International team. The ideal candidate is interested in working in a fast-paced environment and uses valuable time management skills to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Qualifications:

Qualifications:
