Communications: Communications Department Management
Communications Manager - Chicagoland Speedway (Joliet, IL)

Position Purpose
To assist and guide initiatives that effectively communicate Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway messaging which result in greater brand awareness and ticket sales while also leading efforts as it relates to R.A.C.E. and community relations.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Develop and execute community outreach/ R.A.C.E. initiatives including the organization and fulfillment of donation request 
  • Manage R.A.C.E. budget – expenses v. donations
  • Track media clips with detailed excel document while communicating the findings in a meaningful and analytical manner
  • Effectively pitch local, regional and national media
  • Write dynamic and informative press releases along with speaking points
  • Manage media credential requests
  • Create and manage media distribution lists
  • Assist with year-end recaps and event comparisons/breakdowns
  • Assist with event and media tour planning and execution

Event Responsibilities:

  • Compile media clippings and distribute overview of coverage to senior leadership
  • Assist media with questions and/or inquiries while facilitating interviews and appearances
  • Maintain the appearance and efficiency of the Media Center

Performance Measures

  •  Successful execution of responsibilities as identified above while staying within the budget
  • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous requests
  • Contribution of new and strategic ideas for future betterment of the communications team

Qualifications

  • Woks well in a team environment interacting with multiple departments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal, written, presentation, organizational and follow-up skills – with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • The ability to respond quickly, calmly and professionally to event-related problems and emergencies
  • Enthusiastic about marketing and the sports industry
  • Ability to perform designated tasks efficiently and thoroughly
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivated and understands the nature of PR
  • Keen understanding of social media
  • An understanding of Microsoft Office Applications
  • B.A. degree within Communications, Public Relations or English with 3-5 years industry experience

Marketing Event Representative (Seasonal) - Chicagoland Speedway & Route 66 Raceway (Joliet, IL)







Position Purpose
During the event season, the Marketing Event Representative will represent and support the Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway teams with all efforts on multiple platforms, such as social programming, on and off site displays and events. The representative must be readily available to answer questions, concerns and complaints of Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway fans.

Job Responsibilities

      Responsibilities:

Route 66 Raceway Operations Manager - Chicagoland Speedway (Joliet, IL)





Position Purpose
Manage day to day operational activities by developing, implementing, and evaluating systems and processes for Route 66 Operations, which includes but is not limited to:

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
Wssential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in coordination with facility leadership to create and manage the event schedule, focusing on the continued development of current events, and identifying, negotiating and securing future event opportunities.
  • Coordinate all on-site activities with sanctioning bodies and third party vendors including event operations, credentials, equipment credentials, vehicle passes and any other approval process for granting access to controlled areas, in coordination with Route 66 Event Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate, manage and evaluate participant parking process and procedures, implementing in-house staffing  based on specific event needs.
  • Create, implement and manage a season-ending evaluation of day-to-day operations of Route 66 Raceway.
  • Manage daily updates to Racer Hotline.
  • Review applications, interview and hire event staff, assign and direct work, evaluate performance, and address and resolve all staff issues.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate all training materials for Drag Staff operations.
  • Serve as an active member of the Chicagoland Speedway/Route 66 Raceway Event Planning Team, which is responsible for event preparation and evaluation during the race season, and the development, evaluation and adjustment of current policies, procedures and management of event operations to enhance guest experience.
  • Implement and maintain a real-time budget tracking process to improve accrual and forecasting, as well as controlling costs through more efficient planning and procedures.
  • Follow the concepts of the R.O.A.D.M.A.P. philosophy, and serve as a leader and set an example for all team members to follow.

  • Delivery of services within budget.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of the sport of drag racing.
  • Strong working knowledge of NHRA Rules and Regulations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 3-5 years of work experience in the motorsports management, or + 5 years drag racing experience..
  • Experience with accounts payable, payroll processing, financial reporting and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills with friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment interacting with multiple departments.
  • Must be well organized with attention to detail.
  • Must possess a positive attitude, self-confidence, professionalism, integrity, motivation, and a very strong work ethic.

Ticket Operations Event Staff- Seasonal - Chicagoland Speedway (Joliet, IL)

Position Purpose

The Ticket Operations Event Staff will gain valuable experience and knowledge of the inner workings of the sports and motorsports industries, while supporting the event operations process at Chicagoland Speedway & Route 66 Raceway.

    • Printing & distributing tickets to customers who have selected Will Call
    • Handling camping registration and check-in throughout major event weekends
    • Answering questions and providing basic event information
  • Assist with other duties assigned by the Ticket Operations Manager or the Director of Ticketing

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and excellent customer service skills are required
  • Comfort to work in a fast paced and high energy environment.  Prior sales or box office experience preferred
  • The ability to respond quickly, calmly, and professionally to event-related problems and emergencies
  • Enthusiastic about learning about the sports industry
  • High school or equivalent education required, pursuing a college degree preferred

Work Requirements
