Volunteer Club Members: Volunteer
Civic Volunteer Groups - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race" - the Daytona 500. Though the season-opening NASCAR Sprint Cup event garners most of the attention - as well as the largest audience in motorsports - the enormous 480-acre motorsports complex boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe, thus earning it the title of "World Center of Racing." In addition to eight major weekends of racing activity, rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo "shoots," production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

Daytona International Speedway is currently recruiting non-profit and civic organizations such as schools, churches and social organizations for fundraising opportunities that exist in the Guest Services department during the 2010 Speedweeks. Groups of 15 or more can submit an application for a role with our Guest Service department. Events that you may be asked to work include The Daytona 500, Rolex 24, Budweiser Shootout, Daytona 200 by Honda, Daytona Supercross by Honda, Fall Cycle Scene, Coke Zero 400 and additional supporting events that occur in the days and weeks before these events. This is a great way for your organization to earn money while working some of the most exciting events in our community.

FAQ:

Where would we be working?
Groups will be assigned to work admission plazas (taking tickets, assisting with questions, directing pedestrian traffic), hospitality entrances, or ushers. We will make all attempts to keep the group together during your assignment but cannot guarantee it. These assignments will be outdoors and you will be open to whatever weather we are having that day - sun, rain, heat, cold, etc.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of people our group has to provide?
We are looking for groups that can commit to having at least 15 people present on the large event days. There is no maximum number of people. We do stress that you do not over commit. We would rather you promise to have 20 people here and have them than to promise 30 and show up with 15. The latter scenario leaves us scrambling to find people to cover shifts your group committed to covering.

Is there a minimum age?
We ask that everyone in the group be 18 years or older.

How does the fundraising part work? How much can we expect to make?
Groups will be paid a flat rate per person provided to work. We will issue your group a single check at the completion of 2010 Speedweeks for the total amount based on the number of shifts covered by your group. The starting rate is $55 per person per day.

Is parking available?
Parking will be available for groups for free in our Lot 7. You will board a shuttle from there to check in at the Speedway. Since parking is always at a premium we suggest carpooling.

Will we be trained?
Yes. There will be training sessions scheduled in December and January for everyone that will be working the 2010 events. We even offer the option to hold training at your organization's headquarters if that is easier for the number in your group.

What is the uniform?
Every participant from your group will need to wear khaki pants and a plain white polo shirt with no logos. We will provide you with a vest and hat when you check in.

Do we need to sign a contract?
Yes. Your group will sign a contract that will define the expectations that we have for your group as well as what we will provide in return for your efforts.

How many hours do we work?
Shift starting times will be discussed in advance. We often stagger our start times but everyone in your group will be scheduled for the same time. You will be expected to be available to stay through the end of the event and up to one hour after the conclusion although actual end times will vary from day to day. Each person is expected to cover one position for the entire day. We are not looking to have a shift change in the middle.

Will we be able to watch the races?
Unfortunately, work locations are located outside of the grandstands on the perimeter of the track. But you will still feel like you're part of the action with all of the activity happening everywhere on race day.

Additional information:
Each group is asked to designate a "leader" that will be working each of the days that the group is scheduled for. This leader will work with management and supervisors at the Speedway to insure that the group is placed appropriately and that all stated volunteers are accounted for.

All groups will need to provide proof of insurance prior to signing of the contract.

Thank you for your interest. To apply, please fill out the profile with contact information and someone from our management team will contact you by Mid-December to speak with you further about your interest in working at Daytona International Speedway as a fundraiser.

Note: When you apply for this job online, you will be required to answer the following questions:

1. Please state the name of your organization.

2. Please provide a REALISTIC number of volunteers that you expect to be able to provide.

3. Please tell us about your organization and its purpose.

4. Please state which events you are interested in working: Rolex 24 (January 30-31), Budweiser Shootout (February 6), Camping World 300 (February 13), Daytona 500 (February 14), Daytona 200 by Honda (March 5), Daytona Supercross by Honda (March 6).

5. Are there members of your group that are available to volunteer during our smaller events Monday-Friday between January 25 - March 4? If so , how many would likely be available?
