ADVERTISING & PROMOTIONS INTERN (SPRING 2018) - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

Daytona International Speedway is the world’s only motorsports stadium and was awarded the SportsBusiness Journal’s prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year in 2016. Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race” – the DAYTONA 500. Though the season-opening Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event garners most of the attention – as well as the largest audience in motorsports – the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex, also known as the “World Center of Racing,” boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe. In addition to at least nine major event weekends, the Speedway grounds are also used extensively for events that include concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

We are currently accepting applications for the position of Advertising & Promotions Intern for Spring 2018.

This position will report to the Advertising & Promotions Manager and will perform duties assigned by the Marketing team.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with coordination and execution of VIP experiences for promotional prize winners. Past experiences have included garage tours, access to Gatorade Victory Lane, hot laps, etc.
  • Create itineraries for promotional winners and remote broadcasts
  • Help coordinate logistics for radio remotes and set up broadcast locations during events
  • Distribution of promotional inventory to TV and radio partners
  • Assist with credential requests for all events
  • Attend pre/post event planning meetings
  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings and brainstorms

Account Executive - Sales - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

JOB SUMMARY

The Sales Account Executive is responsible primarily for generating new/renewed revenue, managing existing Daytona International Speedway accounts as well as actively prospecting for future revenue opportunities.  This sales executive must be highly motivated, goal oriented, self-starter, demonstrated sales experience and contribute to the continuous success of the sales team.  This role will involve a high volume of weekly cold calling, prospecting, meeting with clients, negotiating and closing revenue opportunities.

                            

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Acquire new clients, grow revenue from existing clients and strengthen customer relationships

  • Prospect, research, and close suite/hospitality and corporate partnership sales through cold-calling, setting in-person meetings, and continually networking throughout central Florida and within the motorsports entertainment community

  • Meet or exceed daily/weekly/monthly corporate revenue and prospecting goals

  • Maintain high level of customer service to existing and new corporate clients

  • Attend networking events, dinners and community events

  • Work closely with Daytona International Speedway sales team and other International Speedway Corporation sales staff

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Sales/Marketing/Sports Management

  • A passion for sales and customer development

Job Summary:

Provide administrative support to the department and the Sr. Director, Ticketing & Guest Services.  

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare & submit expense reports for department managers and staff as needed

  • Order & track all apparel for department; coordinate distribution throughout year as necessary

  • Assist with monthly budget spreadsheets, including accruals; assist with annual budget process

  • Process all department invoices and check requests through WebNow

  • Serve as worker’s compensation liaison to ISC Risk Department

Audio Visual Coordinator - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race" - the Daytona 500. Though the season-opening NASCAR Cup event garners most of the attention, the enormous 480-acre motorsports complex boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe, thus earning it the title of "World Center of Racing." In addition to eight major weekends of racing activity, rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include car club racing, motorcycles, civic and social gatherings, and car shows. 

Daytona International Speedway is seeking a full time employee with audio visual technical expertise that will interact with our guests and participants during racing events and onsite special events.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Plan, setup, and manage audio visual aspects of Daytona Intl. Speedway related events. This includes large spectator events and track and client meeting room rentals. (not TV production)

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with the DIS Operations, Venue Tech, and Special Event teams on upcoming events.
  • Attend site tours with the sales manager and their clients to discuss upcoming events in greater detail to understand the client’s audio visual needs.
  • Manage audio/video in fan areas to include the Fan Zone, D500 Club, Garage areas, as well as with special events held in the DIS Stadium and Hall of Fame.
  • Assist the Event Operations team as need to support events.

  • Manage vendors for potential upgrades & troubleshooting.
  • Maintain inventory and operation of AV equipment; assess existing equipment and make recommendations for replacement and upgrades.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

     

    OTHER DUTIES

  • Be a team player, helping others whenever assistance is needed.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Basic office systems including but not limited to computer system & programs, cellular phone.

All types of microphones (wired, and wireless)

Live sound public address systems (mixing consoles and speakers)

Digital Audio Matrix operation (Symnet audio matrix inside Fan Zone)

Laptop to LCD projector interfacing (Standard VGA or DVI conversion)

Standard DVD video playback (presentations, corporate pieces)

Operate forklifts, boom lifts, or scissor lifts preferred.

DIRECTION EXERCISED

This position supervises seasonal direct reports as needed during large events.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Hours will vary but will include all hours the office is open, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to attend events and to fulfill job responsibilities.

Coordinator, Special Events/Fan Hospitality - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator, Special Events/Fan Hospitality is responsible for securing, contracting & executing Special Events on a year round basis and manage all aspects of Fan Hospitality for Daytona International Speedway Events. In addition, this role will work across multiple internal DIS departments to properly communicate event plans, client needs, and any special circumstances with clients to ensure a seamless event experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Special Events

  • Secure Special Event Clients for events through-out the year

  • Write Special Event contracts and manage them through the execution phase

  • Act as liaison to Americrown Catering staff on menu, set up and execution of event

  • Create and distribute Special Event Memo’s

  • Attend Special Events to ensure client satisfaction

  • Contact any/all past due issues associated with Special Events

  • Attend networking and trade events to grow professional network and generate new business opportunities for DIS

  • Build event summaries for all events hosted which will capture client feedback, any issues encountered during the event, room layouts, photos, notes etc.

  • Coordinate with DIS/ISC/One Daytona respective teams on current/prospective client needs and new business opportunities

Fan Hospitality

  • Event Visualizing

  • Ensure that all fan hospitality areas are set to plan daily and ready for operation

  • Manage and train all fan hospitality management staff and work closely with them daily during events to ensure seamless execution in all areas

  • Develop annual training program for all fan hospitality staff prior to event season

  • Conduct fan hospitality survey’s in all DIS fan hospitality locations and look for solutions to any issues during/post event

  • Work closely with DIS Sales on any partner integration in fan hospitality areas

Marketing Coordinator - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

The Marketing Coordinator is a key role within the Daytona International Speedway (DIS) Marketing Department. The coordinator will assist on execution of digital marketing on the DIS website, social media channels, email and through the mobile app. The Marketing Coordinator will be entrenched in the event time responsibilities and lead several important fan initiatives including the DAYTONA Rewards program and autograph session logistics. The Marketing Coordinator will also work closely with the operations department on critical event schedules including pace car and grand marshal car movement as well as the comprehensive event weekend schedule. The Marketing Coordinator should be marketing generalist ready to go above and beyond what is asked to help support the entire team.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Director and Digital Marketing Manager to execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy to accomplish Daytona’s objectives of ticket sales, engagement and platform growth.

  • Assist Digital Marketing Manager with content plan execution on DIS digital platforms, including the DIS website, social media, and mobile app.

  • Assist the Digital Marketing Manager on executing social media strategy for Daytona International Speedway to engage fans and drive sales.  

  • Research the market for latest innovative trends and brainstorm creative growth strategies.

  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Director to develop and execute paid digital campaign strategy

  • Assist Digital Marketing Manager and Strategic Communications Manager with the development of email campaigns.

  • Assist Digital Marketing Manager with data for dashboards for digital marketing efforts.

  • Assist Digital Marketing Manager and Consumer Marketing team with graphic and motion content for digital channels.

  • Provide assistance to all marketing team members as needed.

 

Event Responsibilities

  • Oversee logistics and execution of the DAYTONA Rewards (fan rewards) program.

  • Manage logistics and coordinate with operations department for autograph session execution.

  • Develop pace car and grand marshal car schedule and manage movements of cars during event day.

  • Coordinate with Event Marketing Director to develop and maintain comprehensive event schedule.

  • Coordinate with Event Marketing Director to manage Lake Lloyd activities and logistics.

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Four year college degree from an accredited program; Emphasis in marketing or communications

  • Marketing experience, especially agency or sports property experience, is a plus

  • Experience with coding in HTML preferred

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines

  • Proficient in Adobe suite of products (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver). Experience in graphic design and video editing is a plus.

Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race” – the DAYTONA 500. Position Purpose

In addition to eight major weekends of racing activity, rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo "shoots," production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

Security Officer: Provide visible security presence to guests and employees. Locking/unlocking doors and gates at appropriate times. Screen all persons entering ticketed and/or secure areas for valid credentials/tickets. Assist guests with questions regarding directions, information about the facility, parking and disabled assistance. Posts are located throughout Speedway properties.

Tour Guide and Driver (Part-time) - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Conduct Daytona International Speedway Tours (Speedway Tour, All Access Tour and VIP Tour) in a professional and informative manner.

  2. Ensure safety of guests.

  3. Prepare trams at the start of the shift (i.e. check fuel, oil, water and all other fluids as necessary).

  4. Assist guests with special needs and ensure ADA compliance.

  5. Complete necessary paperwork (i.e. guest log sheet, incident and vehicle condition reports and closing sheets).

  6. Memorize and deliver various tour script narratives to guests in a clear and exciting presentation.

  7. Drive multi-unit trams, pickup trucks with single and double Featherlite trams and a 28 passenger bus to deliver daily tours and during event time.

  8. Drive Richard Petty Driving and Ride Experience guests to the infield and return to Tours area.

  9. Operate walkie-talkie radio in proper and professional manner for clear and concise communications with Tour team and Ticket Operations.

  10. Enhance guest's knowledge of Daytona International Speedway, NASCAR and motorsports in general.

  11.  Assist in training new Tour staff.

  12. Other duties as assigned and available to work during events at Daytona International Speedway with Event Tram Operations plus Speedway Show Car Operations.

    Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • CDL Class C with passenger endorsement.
  • CPR/Defibrillation course (can be completed at the onset of employment).
  • Clean driving record (verifiable by company background check).

Physical Demands

  • The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move 60 pounds (i.e. change a tram unit tire) and be able to work in all elements.
