Director, Daytona Rising Venue Experience - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

 

 

 

 

Daytona International Speedway is the home of “The Great American Race”—the Daytona 500. The Daytona 500 is the biggest, richest and most prestigious race in America and annually kicks off the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Although the Daytona 500 garners most of the attention, the enormous 480-acre motorsports complex boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe—earning it the title of “World Center of Racing.” In addition to nine major weekends of racing activity, featuring everything from NASCAR to the Rolex Sports Car Series to the American Motorcyclist Association and the World Karting Association, the Speedway is also booked for more than two solid months each year for testing and development of various race vehicles. Motorized meandering aside, rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include civic and social gatherings, car shows, athletic games, photo “shoots,” production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

Daytona Rising Facility

  • Develop plan of integrating Guests into the new Daytona Rising facility and delivering superior Guest experiences: - Construction to Race Ready years 2014 & 2015; - New Facility completion and inauguration in 2016
  • Coordinate Guest integration support of new amenities with DIS & ISC departments: - ISC Design and Development;
  • Information Technology: - Americrown Service Corporation; - DIS Marketing on wayfinding, directional and printed support materials; - DIS Sales on Suites & Fan Hospitality areas; - DIS Security on elevators staffing/operation; - DIS Facility Operations on support services notification & response; - DIS Emergency Services

Human Resources Recruiting, Staffing & Training

  • Recruit superior event grandstand areas staff
  • Develop, review and update position expectations for all Guest Service roles overseen
  • Serve as Trainer for Fans R 1st @ Daytona
  • Develop and implement Guest Services training programs and materials
  • Motivate and grown event managers and supervision staff abilities & training participation

Functional/Event Operations

  • Review scheduling, service group contracts and staffing agency selection for all aspects of Guest Services areas overseen
  • Co-Coordinate credential ordering and tracking for department
  • Coordinate event equipment and supplies ordering for department areas overseen
  • Track owned equipment and assets and manage maintenance of assets
  • Participate in update and execution of DIS Guest Service plan
  • Review and coordinate the vertical transportation of the New Daytona Rising venue

Guest Interaction/Communications

  • Review and respond to guest comments and communication (email, comment cards, mail, phone, GEM Survey verbatim comments, etc.) for areas overseen
  • Serve as Advocate for the guests in problem resolution/solving
  • Participate in tracking of internal Guest (event employee) comments for department review and resolutions planning
  • Schedule and conduct department review meetings
  • Assist in responding to Guest Assistance needs on property and when transportation off property for further medical assistance is needed

Financials

  • Co-coordinate annual budget process worksheets and input forms preparation
  • Review invoices, approve WebNow activity for processing to payables
  • Coordinate preparation of monthly expenses incurred, invoices not received accruals
  • Track budget to actual costs monthly and prepare financial practices within department with an emphasis on cost savings and efficiencies
  • Coordinate tracking and document monthly variances of forecasted variances to actuals

ADA / Legal

  • Learn and be familiar with ADA guidelines
  • Inspect facility areas overseen for ADA compliance issues
  • Co-coordinate remedy of ADA issues with management
  • Prepare and present event staff ADA awareness training
  • Maintain documentation of ADA training
  • Create and maintain documentation of auxiliary aids provided at DIS events

Community/Professional Involvement

  • Support community initiatives (9/11 Blood Drive, NASCAR Day, etc.)
  • Join and participate in related Professional Society (i.e. IVAM, etc)

Other Duties as assigned/necessary

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in sports management, event management, marketing or related field; or equivalent amount of education and work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of event management experience (sports industry preferred)
  • A passion to work in the motorsports industry
  • Proven employee management experience with event day staff
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft application and web-based programs
  • Strong understanding of new facility construction, design and development and operations
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and time management skills
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required

Facility Operations/Security: Usher/Ticket Taker
Guest Services Event Staff - Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL)

In addition to eight major weekends of racing activity, rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo "shoots," production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

Admissions Staff work the entrance points of the Daytona International Speedway during publicly ticketed events. Admission roles include verifying proper tickets and credentials for both entry and reentry, enforcing Speedway fan safety policies, and assisting guests with race day information and guidance. Locations for Admissions Staff are varied and include Grandstand entrance plazas, Hospitality areas, tunnels, RV areas and the Sprint FANZONE. Shifts range from 7 – 13 hours in length. Pay rate: $7.93/hr

Disabled Assistance Transportation Staff will provide assistance to guests with disabilities by transporting them from parking areas to entrance points via golf cart or tram. Applicants for these positions should be out going and exhibit a willingness to help others. A valid Driver’s license is required to work for Disabled Assistance Transportation. Shifts range from 10-15 hours in length. Pay rate: $7.93/hr

Information Ambassadors will staff Information Booths at the Daytona International Speedway during events. Information Services staff interact with guests providing race day information and guidance about Speedway schedules, locations, policies and services. Applicants for these positions should be out going and exhibit a willingness to help others. Shifts range from 10-13 hours in length. Pay rate: $7.93/hr

Ticket Sellers are responsible for event day ticket sales for Daytona International Speedway events. Sellers work in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations including ticket offices, gates, vehicle entrance points and Sprint FANZONE to sell the appropriate ticket to our guests. Shifts range from 7-13 hours in length. Pay rate: $8/hr

Tram Ambassadors ride along on our trams to insure our passengers remain seated while the tram is in motion. They also assist passengers as necessary and as directed by the supervisor when loading/unloading trams in the tram plazas. Ambassadors alert the driver immediately upon observing any unsafe movement of passengers, incidents jeopardizing fan safety, and equipment malfunction or failure. Additionally, you may also work as a plaza attendant at Tram Plazas, assisting in the loading and unloading of passengers. Shifts range from 10-16 hours in length. Pay rate: $7.93/hr

Tram Drivers are responsible for driving the trucks & tractors that pull the trams on an assigned route. Additionally, you may be assigned as a van or bus driver for an assigned route. To be eligible, you must have a valid Florida CDL with a passenger endorsement. Shifts range from 8 – 13 hours in length.

Usher Staff will work in the seating areas of the Daytona International Speedway during select publicly ticketed events. Ushers must be highly pro-active and outgoing. Ushers are responsible for assisting guests to locate and verify seating locations, enforcing Speedway safety policies, and providing race day information and guidance to guests. Ushers will also be asked to perform daily preparation of their assigned seating areas including drying seats and reporting any required repairs. Shifts range from 7 – 12 hours in length. Pay rate: $7.93/hr

The Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing existing Daytona International Speedway accounts as well as actively prospecting new accounts and expanding current business, which includes introducing new partnership opportunities related to the DAYTONA Rising redevelopment project. The Senior Manager, Sales is responsible for managing national/regional accounts, as well as actively prospecting new accounts, maintaining and expanding existing business for the Daytona International Speedway including inventory related to the $400M DAYTONA Rising redevelopment project. This sales executive must demonstrate current sponsorship sales experience, proven ability to close deals and contribute to the continuous success of the sales team. The sales executive must have direct sales experience in the sports and/or entertainment industry. This role will call on clients with the purpose of cold calling, prospecting, pitching, negotiating and closing revenue opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Acquire new clients, grow revenue from existing clients and strengthen customer relationships
• Demonstrate sales success with the ability to exceed annual individual sales goals
