Position Purpose
The Accounting Intern will provide accounting support in many aspects of the business and gain valuable experience and knowledge of the inner workings of the sports and event management industries, while working in a high energy and fast-paced environment at Richmond International Raceway.

Job Responsibilities

  • Month end accounting work, including journal entries, reports and reconciliations
  • Manage accounting function of merchandise sales, including event balancing and inventory.
  • Participate in event accounting work, including cash room and event audits
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns
  • Respond to inquiries related to A/P (outstanding invoices) and A/R (past due notifications)
  • Perform the initial work to process A/P invoices for certain departments (coding, descriptions, route for approval, setting up new vendors)
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Staff Accountant or Director of Accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or within Bachelor’s degree program with an emphasis in accounting or finance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or an accounting software is preferred
  • Attention to detail, accurate, timely
  • Comfort to work in a fast paced and high energy environment
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize work load
  • Able to work independently

Director of Ticket Operations and Guest Services - Richmond International Raceway (Richmond, VA)

Summary of Job:

The Director of Ticket Operations and Guest Services is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of RIR ticket operations, including the day-to-day operations along with box office management on race weekends and at other special events.   This positon also manages the Guest Services team on race weekend which includes the Guest Services booths and on-site fan transportation.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervise, operate and manage all aspects of RIR’s Ticket Office Operations and Guest Services
  • Responsibilities include hiring, training, and overseeing the management process for a full-time ticket office representative, a part-time guest services manager and intern
  • Supervise, manage and utilize the FanTracker ticketing software system to maximize ticket revenue opportunities during renewals, on-sale periods and one-off promotional offers
  • Responsible for box office operations during race weekends and during other special events including all aspects of ticket fulfillment and campground management.
  • Develop pricing models for RIR grandstand seating areas as well as the campgrounds
  • Works with track-level team to develop sale strategies, set ticket & camping prices to maximize revenues
  • Develop, manage and maintain financial reports for the Ticket Office on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis to assist with overall revenue analysis
  • As RIR’s primary contact, manage the day-to-day relationship with ISC’s Contact Center as well as manage call campaigns to provide pricing and packaging updates, draft talking points and marketing messaging, and implement new programs to drive incremental sales
  • Collaborate with the Consumer Marketing team on promotional ticket ideas and sales strategies as well as attend the Sales & Marketing Team meetings
  • Work closely with the Consumer Marketing Team to insure that all online ticket information is up to date and system is functioning correctly
  • Working with the Consumer Marketing & Corporate Sales teams, plan and prepare a yearly ticket sales calendar with renewal dates, on-sale dates and payment plan deadlines
  • Work with all departments to maintain & develop a high level of customer service for all ticket holders
  • Collaborate with the Guest Services Manager on the overall Guest Service plan, training programs & materials and budget development
  • Review Guest Services literature each season and train service groups in preparation for race weekend
  • Manage the Guest Service locations on race weekend to provide extraordinary customer service to all fans and provide efficient shuttle service for guests
  • Maintain and develop relationships with Richmond Nation members, ticket holders and campers
  • Assure direct reports are being held accountable to all assigned tasks and responsibilities according to established goals & deadlines
  • Working with the Director of Accounting; ensure the ticket office is in compliance with all internal control policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management or related field as well as four or more years of experience in supervisory role working in a ticket or box office environment
  • Excellent leadership skills with abilities to resolve complex problems, understand the importance of structure, organization, resource management, and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Intermediate level user of Microsoft Excel, Access and other similar tools necessary to efficiently analyze large data sets and identify trends.
  • Must have solid written & verbal communication, outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be able to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be able to exercise flexibility, initiative and good judgment
  • Ability to manage a department in a changing organization & environment

Senior Manager of Business Development - Richmond International Raceway (Richmond, VA)

Richmond International Raceway is seeking a creative, highly organized, self-motivated and aggressive sales professional with corporate sales knowledge to join their Business Development team.  RIR is looking for an individual with a proven track record of sales success and existing contacts in the local Richmond market and surrounding regions (Washington, DC and Tidewater).  Candidate will develop and create new relationships that will result in corporate partnerships that support two NASCAR weekends at Richmond International Raceway and other opportunities within the Complex throughout the year. Additionally, this person will help work with existing partners to ensure top level customer satisfaction and further generate referral based business.

The candidate will report directly to the Senior Director of Business Development.  This position will work directly at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, VA.

 

Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Sell corporate partnerships and other activation options to local, state, regional and national businesses.

  • Research and develop new sales opportunities.

  • Develop an on-going working relationship with current sponsors/partners to grow their business and expand to other ISC facilities.

  • Creatively build marketing platforms that meet the initiatives of the client.

  • Establish relationships with NASCAR stakeholders to build both the RIR and the candidates brand.

  • Execute contract process from development through payment.

  • Manage accounts from inception through race weekend activation.

  • Cold calling, face to face meetings, telemarketing, networking, etc. to generate new sales opportunities.

  • Weekly sales quota and prospect reporting.

  • Assist and work efficiently with all departments at Richmond International Raceway for the purpose of assuring growth, increased productivity, product and service development, profitability, and guest satisfaction

Position Description:

The Vice President of Marketing and Communication at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) is responsible for all marketing, ticketing and communications for the facility and reports directly to the president of RIR.  This person must be an energetic strategically-minded individual who can inspire others and communicate a vision of success that drives revenue and maximizes the event experience.  Directors of Communication, Consumer Marketing and Ticketing report directly to this position.  This role must also collaborate with the leadership of all department heads and work throughout the organization on positively and proactively delivering against the overall strategy for the organization and its Mission, Vision and Core Values of RIR

Essential Job Functions / Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct all aspects of Marketing, Ticketing & Communications Departments;
  • Guide and direct all aspects of RIR’s strategic plan as it relates to marketing, ticketing and communications;
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the staff. Duties include, but are not limited to:  goal setting, performance evaluations, vacation schedules, budgetary updates, and conflict resolution; 
  • Oversee the planning of advertising and promotional concepts and programs with the Consumer Marketing team. This includes in-house and ad agency programs;
  • Oversee with the Consumer Marketing team, the planning and proper execution of sponsor and media driven in-market consumer promotions;
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of branding strategies designed for integration into all areas of Marketing and Sales with the goal of elevating RIR's events, and the Complex's in-market identity and equity;
  • Analyze Ticket and Consumer data to extrapolate pertinent information to improve the effectiveness and efficiencies of Marketing & Sales plans and projects, as well as pricing strategies; 
  • Work closely with the Ticket Department to integrate Marketing & Sales objectives and strategies to increase ticket sales. Develop targeted and measurable programs to enhance the sales aspects of the tickets agents;
  • With the Director of Tickets, oversee all functions of ticket services including year-round and on-site initiatives;
  • With the Director of Communications, increase the profile of the organization and its events locally, regionally and nationally with new Communications/Public Relations strategies related to media, new media and influencer outreach;
  • Execute effective media relations/public relations initiatives to garner media placements;
  • Working in conjunction with direct reports, annually prepare and submit a revenue and expense budget for the Marketing, Ticketing & Communications Departments, and, in conjunction with Operations, a capital expenditure budget for approval and subsequent implementation. Work to lower expenses, improve efficiencies and grow margins within the respective department budgets without sacrificing sales and customer service;
  • Provide year-round monitoring and control of revenues and expenses. Work to improve efficiencies within the department;
  • Develop and assist in implementation of marketing solutions for corporate partners in conjunction with business development/sales representatives;
  • Assist in development and implementation of guest service practices in conjunction with guest service and operations representatives;
  • Help develop, plan, and coordinate with guest services and all marketing & sales departments, critical consumer touch points and interactions that enhance the guest experience pre-event, during the event and post event;
  • Assist the president with long-range objectives of the facility.  Develop broad branding and positioning programs aimed at increasing RIR visibility and new business opportunities;
  • Representing RIR at community events, being active and visible in the community;
  • Ensure that all departments are working together effectively on a daily basis in a collaborative way toward a common goal aligned with business strategies;
  • Guide and direct RIR capital strategy and master plan strategy as it relates to marketing, ticketing and communications;
  • Collaborate with sanctioning bodies, industry stakeholders and facility event promoters to align business strategies for the mutual benefit of all parties;
  • Collaborate with internal partners (Americrown, ISC Marketing Services, etc) to maximize opportunities to drive revenue and/or efficiencies;
