Corporate Partnership Intern - Richmond Internation Raceway (Richmond, VA)

Job Summary:

Internship will be working in the Corporate Sales department at Richmond International Raceway. Internship will start in early February 2015 and conclude on or around May 1, 2015. Corporate Partnership Intern responsibilities will consist of working with the corporate sales team in partnership management, fulfillment of deliverables, creating and executing lead generation programs and other duties as required.  Race weekend client interaction and activation, VIP tours and logistics.

Essential Functions:

Performs any combination of the following duties according to specific departmental guidelines:

  1. Research targeted companies for sales opportunities
  2. Develop lead generating programs
  3. Assist with fulfillment of partner obligations
  4. Represent RIR at outbound events
  5. Performs other such duties as may be assigned

  1. Must be outgoing, friendly and have a willingness to interact with people at public promotional events.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively orally in a pleasant speaking voice.

Marketing Intern - Richmond International Raceway (Richmond, VA)

Job Summary:

Richmond International Raceway is looking for a driven individual who enjoys working in a fun, collaborative environment. The Marketing Intern is an integral part of a growing Consumer Marketing team.  This position will assist with the execution and fulfillment of all promotions, contribute to the development of added value programming, and assist in engaging fans through the RIR Kids Club and community events. The Marketing Internship is a seasonal position from January 19, 2015 through September 25, 2015, which includes two NASCAR race weekends (April 24-25 and September 11-12).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute fan promotions and sweepstakes, including developing rules, promoting and implementing the sweepstakes through the fulfillment stage
  • Assist with prospect data collection and uploading to CRM tool.
  • Assist with reviewing and approving media buys and added value promotions.
  • Oversee fulfillment of all promotional requests, which includes but is not limited to: shipping tickets and inventory, communicating on-air copy to stations and contacting contest winners.
  • Manage daily operations of the RIR Kids Club, which includes but is not limited to: database management and communication, developing and distributing advertising collateral, shipping membership packages and ensuring sponsor fulfillment.
  • Manage the outbound events team, ensuring prospect collection goals are met and the RIR brand is properly represented.
  • Assist with execution of the Paint the Town program including development and distribution of materials used to promote our two NASCAR race weekends.
  • Collaborate with the Consumer Marketing team to develop added value programming on-site during race weekend, including Track Takeover, Post Race Party, ticket holder events, and driver appearances and autograph sessions.
  • Contribute to the development of University Ambassador program.
  • Work with the Ticket Office on incoming calls, in-office ticket sales and ticket shipments, when necessary.

Ticket Office Intern - Richmond International Raceway (Richmond, VA) - Richmond International Raceway (Richmond, VA)

Richmond International Raceway, known as America’s Premier Short Track, offers great night racing action and a commitment to the fan experience. One of the most popular facilities among drivers and fans in all of motorsports, Richmond International Raceway annually hosts two NASCAR Doubleheader weekends, featuring the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series, under the lights on a ¾-mile D-Shaped oval. The unique layout traditionally produces exciting side-by-side racing, yet drivers reach high enough speeds for a superspeedway feel.


The Ticket Office Intern will experience all aspects of Ticketing with a large focus on customer service. The Intern will work as part of a team with other ticket agents and will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Ticketing. This is a seasonal position from January 5, 2015 through September 18, 2015, which includes two NASCAR race weekends.


  • Work all NASCAR events at Richmond International Raceway assisting with Ticket Office operations and all ticketing initiatives.
  • Assist staff with day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with incoming calls and greeting visitors in Ticket Office
  • Assist customers with merchandise purchases
  • Allocate incoming track tour request to appropriate departments
  • Learn and use FanTracker ticketing system for reports and account updates
  • Call campaigns for ticket holders and prospective buyers
  • Respond to customer feedback and questions by phone and email
  • Assist with data entry including prospect information, current customer information, and financial information
  • Help organize and input incoming payments
  • Attend outbound and community events to promote upcoming races, including nights and weekends.
