General Description: The Business Partnership Coordinator will assist the Sr. Manager of Business Partnerships with day-to-day operations for most 2015 major events, including the Cheez It™ 355 NASCAR Weekend

           

Duties:

  • Manage the Fan Ambassador program; including scheduling, training and social media interactions
  • Assist display partners during all major event weekends
  • Support the Sr. Manager of Business Partnerships with day-to-day operations
  • Assist with ongoing promotions and giveaways associated with upcoming event weekends
  • Provide quality customer service for existing customers
  • Support community programs that WGI is involved with
  • Assist the sales department with tasks during major event weekends

Qualifications:

  • Two years completed towards a Business Administration, Communications, Marketing or Sport Management Degree
  • Outbound calling skills and customer service experience (retail, direct, corporate) is helpful
  • PC literate and strong organizational skills
  • Possess ability to demonstrate exceptional guest service skills
  • Able to work non traditional hours occasionally (nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Must be able to work ALL major event weekends* including the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy and Cheez It™ 355 NASCAR Weekend at The Glen

General Description: The Group Sales Specialist will assist in increasing attendance and incremental revenue for most 2015 major events, including the Cheez It™ 355 NASCAR Weekend, through outbound phone calls, direct mail and promotional marketing campaigns.

Duties:

  • Conduct telephone campaigns to acquire new business ticket sales

Public Relations Intern - Watkins Glen International (Watkins Glen, NY)

Overview: The primary goal of this opportunity is to provide the coordinator with a positive work experience while fulfilling the responsibilities of working with the public relations department and Watkins Glen International team. The ideal candidate is interested in working a fast-pace environment and uses valuable time management skills to complete assigned tasks efficiently. This opportunity provides the ideal candidate with a variety of projects and activities to assist and complete independently. The coordinator must be able to perform duties at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, NY throughout the summer.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Previous non-academic based writing experience
  • Prior sports writing experience is a plus
  • Works independently with attention to detail
  • Posses time management skills; Works well under pressure
  • Minimum of two years completed towards a Sports Management or Communications/Journalism degree

Duties:

  • Assist with the processing of media credentials for all events

Public Relations Manager - Watkins Glen International (Watkins Glen, NY)






POSITION SUMMARY
The Public Relations Manager will play a key role in the promotion of Watkins Glen International by overseeing the communications department and interacting with local and national media.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, develop, and implement communications strategies and public relations initiatives
  • and edit copy for press releases, media advisories, speeches, souvenir programs, feature stories, guest guides, newsletters, marketing materials and web content.
  • Create, manage, and produce large-scale media, community, and fan events. Organize on-site and off-site press conferences and media tours for industry executives and drivers.
  • Manage all media related inquiries, including but not limited to credentials, interview requests and photo needs
  • Manage pre-race and victory lane ceremonies with assistance from outside production group
  • Manage Photography requests seeking access during track rental events
  • Assist with social media content
  • Manage website content/design with internal technology team
  • Serve on community based boards as representative of Watkins Glen International
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-Year College Degree from an accredited program; Emphasis in public relations, journalism or communications
  • Passion for sports and interest in a career within sports & entertainment
  • Personable and articulate
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Internal and external customer service focus
  • Available to work evenings and weekend events when necessary
  • Previous experience in motorsports preferred

General Description: The WGI Winter Intern will assist several departments with off-season projects in preparation for the 2015 event season.  Projects will originate from the following departments: Sales, Marketing/PR, and Accounting, and may include assistance with developing season hospitality, improving the volunteer program, drafting 2015 correspondence, and contributing to season marketing materials. The candidate will spend several days within each department and will gain a good idea of how each department operates.
